This website is set up and run by a small group of antique radio enthusiasts. We all grew up in the age of valve radio and our families had valve radios in pride of place in our living rooms. My personal story started early and I remember as a small child listening for hours to the weird noises the radio would produce when switched to short wave bands and the tuning dial rotated. Those magic and mysterious sounds were far more fascinating to me as a child that the actual short wave staions that I could tune into. Later I would regularly visit Huckell Radio on Military Road and scrounge old radio components that were in the throwout bins. I disassembled power transformers to get coil winding wire and reverse engineered (destroyed!) all the components to see what was inside! Thus a fascination was born.
